One of my kettles…
My Mum’s younger sister, my Aunt Jane, was also my godmother. I was a little bridesmaid for her when she married, and we always wrote back and forth when we moved to Canada from England. About 40 years ago, when I took first hubby and kids to the UK to see where I lived, she sent me home with a bit of cash to treat myself. I bought a wooden garden bench. It has now been in four gardens as life moved us around, and I’ve kept staining it, replaced a couple of boards, but basically it’s still with me, and will always be Jane’s bench. I last saw Jane when we visited about twenty years ago. I lost my Aunt Jane in November but she will always be with me!
And I’m trying to post a photo but the site won’t let me
Hi Shirley
I can’t seem to upload photos myself – and you know I would if I could!
I did get the photo via email and noticed that it looks like a “two-seater” which means your Aunt Jane can sit with you when you feel so inclined.
Seems like a nice go-to spot for reflection and reminiscence.
Thank you for sharing.
